Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

4 Jan

IMG_5265_1This is a fun recipe to make, and I’ve made it quite a few times for countless kids who’ve been here for game night, birthdays, LAN parties, ping pong tournaments, etc.  I think these are even better than Sonic’s cheese sticks (and I love Sonic cheese sticks!)

Ingredients: (vary amounts depending on number of servings desired)

1 pkg. String cheese sticks

1 pkg. Egg roll wrappers

1 egg, beaten and mixed with 1 Tablespoon of water

Panko crumbs, approximately 2 cups

Marinara sauce for dipping

Directions:

Gather ingredients and cut cheese sticks and egg roll wrappers in half.  You’ll also need a small bowl of water to seal the egg roll wrappers.

Place one cheese stick half on one egg roll wrapper.

Tuck in both edges and roll, using water along edge to seal.

IMG_5256_1Dip the rolled cheese stick in the egg mixture to coat, turning to moisten all sides.

IMG_5258_1Roll the dipped cheese stick into the panko crumbs, lightly pressing crumbs in to fully cover cheese stick.

IMG_5259_1Fry cheese sticks in small batches in hot oil until golden brown.

Drain on paper towels for a minute or so, then serve with marinara sauce for dipping.
